A beautiful cultural wedding in Sydney: Natasha & Jonathan’s love story
Natasha and Jonathan’s wedding was a stunning fusion of cultures, love, and family traditions—one that I had the pleasure of coordinating and supporting Natasha and Jonathan throughout our planning time together.
I first met Natasha when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding I coordinated the year before. Seeing firsthand how smoothly the day unfolded, she later reached out to me on Instagram, and after our first chat, she knew she wanted me to help bring her own wedding vision to life.
For 10 months, we worked closely together, exchanging emails and WhatsApp messages while having 4 consultations (always over great food!). I also provided vendor recommendations and wedding planning advice along the way.
Throughout our time planning their wedding together, we:
Held a detailed consultation with their reception MC
Coordinated with vendors to confirm setup times, logistics, and final details
Created a comprehensive floor plans and wedding runsheet (including exclusive schedules for their wedding party and immediate families)
Conducted a full ceremony rehearsal with their large wedding party
The celebrations began with a traditional tea ceremony in South West Sydney. Afterward, Natasha, Jonathan and their wedding party checked in at William Inglis, where they relaxed before their big day.
On the morning of the wedding, after they had hair and makeup done - Jonathan, accompanied by his uncle, left William Inglis in a green Lamborghini (in style!), while Natasha and their wedding party departed in a large limousine, ensuring Natasha and Jonathan didn’t see each other until she walked down the aisle.
Meanwhile, my team and I were already at the church in Earlwood, overseeing the floral arrangements, setting up final details (including catering), and coordinating with the tech team, ceremony MC, and photographers to ensure everything was perfect.
The heartfelt church ceremony was filled with beautiful singing, prayers, and blessings in both English and Indonesian. After the ceremony, guests and the wedding party enjoyed morning tea and refreshments just outside the church before Natasha, Jonathan and their wedding party left for a wedding photoshoot at Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden.
Upon arriving at the Highline Venue, Natasha and Jonathan had a moment to refresh in their private suite (including touchups) with their groomsmen, while their bridesmaids rehearsed their entrance.
Meanwhile, my team and I ensured everything was set for the reception, from:
Bridal table and cake setup
Placement of wedding guest favours
Final debriefs with the reception MC, live band, photography team, and photobooth
The reception began with a grand wedding party entrance, followed by an evening filled with incredible cultural performances, including:
Lion dancing – A powerful, traditional performance to bring luck and happiness
Cook Island dance – A vibrant showcase of Jonathan’s heritage
A special cultural welcome ceremony – A touching moment to welcome Natasha into Jonathan’s family
We also had a famous overseas singer, who was also a guest, surprised everyone with a heartfelt performance for the couple.
The night then flowed seamlessly into a touching father-daughter dance, transitioning smoothly into Jonathan and Natasha’s first dance, and then an open dancefloor where guests danced the night away. All songs were performed live by their band.
One of my favourite moments of this wedding was witnessing the beautiful blend of traditions — from the lion dancing to the Cook Islands performance and intimate cultural ceremony. Natasha and Jonathan’s wedding was not just about two people coming together, but also about honoring their families and cultural backgrounds in a way that felt natural and meaningful.
In their own words…
“I remember questioning why I wasn’t stressed and how I was so calm up to and on the day of the wedding, and it was because I had Tracey… Our wedding ran smoothly from the ceremony through to the end of the night, and her check ins throughout the process made us feel cared for. We highly appreciate Tracey and her team for showing up and being there every step of our special day. We can’t thank you enough for your hard work in ensuring our day was enjoyable, stress free and memorable.”
